Le nom du groupe "Evanescence" signfie "disparaître comme la vapeur". "Je trouve ke c un phénomène mystérieux, mé bon la sigification du terme selon moi n'est pa prés d'arrivé avant trés longtemps.  Je croi ke je ne suis pa le seul a pensé la meme chose. nan??

    Evanescence est né de la rencontre de Amy-lynn  Lee (Chanteuse) et Ben Moody (Guitariste) dans une colonie de vacances. Ils ont commencé à acquérir une certaine notoriété dans leur région grâce à la diffusion fréquente d' "Understanding" sur une radio locale.

Leur premier  "EP Evanescence" sortit en 1998 lors de leur première représentation et sa diffusion fut limitée à 100 exemplaires. Leur second album "Sound asleep" fut également très peu diffusé (50 exemplaires).

Des musiciens permanents furent choisis : John Lecompt (Guitare) et William Rocky Gray (Batterie) et le groupe intensifia la fréquence de ses représentations.

Le troisieme album "Origin" sort en 2000 mais il faut attendre 2003 avec la sortie de leur quatrieme album: "Fallen"  pour que le groupe acquière une renommée mondiale.

La présence de deux de leurs titres "Bring me to life" et "My immortal" font la B.O de DareDevil qui contribuera largement à leur succès.
